1 Corinthians 1:18
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.
It seems that everyone knows a little about the Bible. They love to quote things out of context so that it fits their agenda. They will say that Jesus loves me just the way I am. Or God created me this way. Recently I had a conversation with a person who feels that God created him to live in a lifestyle that was ulterior to what God had in mind. This individual wanted me to affirm his relationship and said that because I didn’t accept what God had created then I was not being a Christian. I have had many sleepless nights because of this. You see I want people to see Christ through me. I don’t want them to see Eric, because in my flesh I stumble around and will say things that I shouldn’t. Instead, I want people to see Christ. I don’t want to be a stumbling block where Christ doesn’t shine through.
In the Old Testament, Lot lived in a city that was filled with perverse people called Sodom. When the angels from the Lord came to the city, he tried to convince Lot and his family to leave the city because of the evil that was going on. Lot left but so many people didn’t leave. They didn’t realize the destruction that was going to take place because of the sexual immorality that was there. For so many people the message of salvation or escape from destruction is foolish. One day the trumpet will sound and we will have to account for our life. If we have rejected the cross and the salvation that it brings then we will be lost for eternity.
How bout you? Do you know the message of the cross, or is it foolish?
