Proverbs 19:20
Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.

Life can be filled with so many challenges. There is the constant need to have money. There is the need to have and do so many things. We in the United States have it so much easier than so many other countries…but we make so hard on our selves. God has so richly blessed us with a country that is filled with prosperity. We do not live in dirt huts and work the fields with our hands. Instead, we live in nice houses and drive nice cars. We develop calluses on our finger tips because we sit at a computer all day rather than calluses on our feet because we are always working with them. I do understand that there are many people in the U.S. who do manual labor. I applaud them for it. But, they are still leaps and bounds above many other people around the world.

Today’s verse is kind of a model that I have put in my life. When I had lots of soldiers working for me my motto for them was, “strive to learn something knew every day.” There are so many things in this world that I don’t know. It is when I am not learning that I become disheartened. I become bored and depressed. God has given us great minds, but there are so many of us who don’t want to use them. Instead, we want to just sit behind our computer and peck away for the rest of out lives. We are happy just being mediocre. God, on the other hand wants us to continue to learn. There are people out there who are smarter than you, whether they be your pastor or a teacher. Learn from them, and grow.

About Me

I am a former soldier in the United States Army. I have deployed to Afghanistan once and to Iraq twice. I feel that I have been called by God to serve Him where I am and to do it joyfully. This can be hard at times. This blog is not about where the Army has taken me but what I read in Scripture and where God is taking me along my spiritual journey. I hope that you will glean information from what I write and will be blessed as God blesses me.
